11th class ENGLISH Story A Greedy Dog

                                                          Greedy Dog

"Greed is curse" is a very well-known proverb.It means a desire for more of something than is necessary leads to unpleasant situation.Sometimes a man desires to get more than needs.His greed brings harm to him.
Once a dog was very hungry.In search of food he happened to pass by a butchers shop.He stole a piece of meat from there.He wanted to eat it all alone.Therefore,he ran to the jungle to find some safe place.After covering a short distance he reaches a stream.There was a bridge over it.He began to cross the bridge.He stopped for a while in the middle of the bridge.He looked into the water of the stream.He saw his own refection in the water.He took it for another dog with piece of meat.The dog was very greedy.He wanted to snatch the piece of meat from the dog in the water.He barked at the dog in the water.As soon as he opened his mouth,his own piece of meat fell down into the water.He became angry.He,at once ,jumped into the water to fight with that dog.As soon as he did so,his refection in the water disappeared.He could find neither the dog nor his own piece of meat.Therefore,he had to remain hungry.
Moral:

  1. Greed is curse
  2. something is better than nothing
  3. All covet,all lose
  4. Do not be greedy

11th class English Story The Thirsty crow


                                                                 THIRSTY CROW
 




Nothing can be achieved without making efforts.When a need of anything is felt,efforts are made to satisfy it.It is often said necessity is the mother of invention.


It was hot on a day in summer.A crow felt very thirsty.He had no water to drink for the last many hours.He flew here and there in search of water but he could not find anything.At last he saw a pitcher on the roof of a house.The crow happily flew to the pitcher.He saw into it and found a little water at its bottom.He tried to drink water but could not succeed because the water was very low.His beak could not reach it.He felt  disappointed because he did not know how to quench his thirst .However,he did not lose heart.All of sudden,he thought of a plan.He saw a heap of pebbles at some distance.He started bringing pebbles one by one and dropping them into pitcher.After some time,the water rose to the brink of the pitcher.The crow drank water to his fill and flew away crying happily.

Moral:Necessity is the mother of invention Or God help those who help themselves.
